Area Attractions
Looking for action and attractions?Just down the road from our hotel in Lenox, Edith Wharton, the famed novelist, wrote that her Berkshires cottage and the surrounding area, “was to give me country cares and joys, long happy rides and drives through the wooded lanes of that loveliest region, the companionship of a few dear friends, and the freedom from trivial obligations which was necessary if I was to go on with my writing. The Mount was my first real home… its blessed influence still lives in me.” Since that writing, not much has changed. Guests to Lenox may still see Wharton’s home, “The Mount,” (right) and many other sprawling mansions in Lenox, now open to the public. The charming streets and restaurants of the town around our hotel in Lenox are rivaled by the beauty and majesty of the Berkshire Mountains themselves. Plenty of outdoor fun awaits guests-from hiking to horseback riding to cross-country skiing. And there are dozens of cultural events to choose from-one not to miss is at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Their season runs from the end of June through the beginning of September.
